Meet Zai — Frequently Asked Questions
Where do I start? Do I need an API key?
Open zai.gg and sign in with your existing ZAI account. You do not need to create or enter an API key. See Getting Started.
Why do I need to sign in again if I already have a ZAI account?
Your account works across ZAI products, but signing in to one doesn't necessarily sign you in to the others. Use your existing email; you don't need to create another account. If you've forgotten your password, use the password recovery option on the sign-in page. See account help.
Why is there no sound, or why does my microphone not work?
Check device volume, browser audio and microphone permissions, chat voice mode, and the mute and audio controls in calls. Voice replies and calls have separate allowances. See Chat and Voice for troubleshooting.
Why am I out of voice minutes when I still have money in my platform balance?
Your platform balance and Meet Zai voice allowances are separate. Check the plan page for your remaining voice-reply or call time, reset dates, and add-on packs. See Plans and Usage.
What if Zai gets a memory wrong or doesn't remember something?
Zai saves memories after conversations, so not everything you say appears in long-term memory right away. Check whether Pause memory is on, then review the memory bank and correct or delete anything inaccurate. See Memory and Data.
Will changing Zai's look or name erase their memories?
No. Changing Zai's look or name keeps their memories intact. To remove past content, use the memory bank or Start over. Start over clears chats, memories, notes, and diary entries. Read what will be deleted before using it.
Can importing memories restore all my chats?
No. Import adds memories while retaining existing ones. It does not restore chats or diary entries. See data management for what export and import cover.
Where can I get help?
Email support@ourzai.com with the product name, registered email, time of the issue, and on-screen error message. Include order details for payment issues. Do not send passwords, verification codes, or API keys. See Contact and Support for more channels.
